Sue Callaghan FCIOB
Director
Sue co-founded Callaghan Consultants in 2006 following her early successful career working for main stream Contractors and Developers in London and the Home Counties. Sue has secured many specific commissions on residential construction projects, and has extensive experience in building up and managing consultant project teams.
Sue is a commercially minded construction professional and experienced Interim Director. She believes in helping to improve a company’s resilience in a tough marketplace through teamwork and innovation, offering to add value and support throughout the development process in a no-nonsense, practical way. She has been involved in UK construction industry for over 35-years’ and has extensive experience within the residential sector.
Sue’s base skill is Building Estimating, and her varied experience includes senior management; commercial and project management; land value viability; cost planning; full elemental budgeting; cost control, cost reconciliation and training. She also has experience in contract negotiation, procurement, dispute management and system and procedural review, working for national and regional developers at a corporate level. She became qualified in 1991 and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building in 2003, she is an accredited Interpersonal Mediator and a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation
Sue strives to drive change, to unsettle the sector’s fixed mindset, to restart the conversation and open up the wider consideration and use of mediation-based resolution strategies within UK construction. She believes that through better communication, open honesty and greater teamwork, problems are given less chance to fester and divide.
Mike Callaghan FCIOB
Director
Mike co-founded Callaghan Consultants in 2006 following his early successful career working for main stream Contractors and Developers in London and the Home Counties. Mike qualified as a Construction Manager in 1997 and since then has focused on residential developments varying in size and complexity.
Mike is a technically minded, construction professional. He diversified from site into design management early in his career gaining the necessary skills to provide a complete design and build project management service. Mike is renowned for his attention to detail, leaving no stone unturned to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and exceeding clients expectations.
Mike has worked within and in collaboration with many organisations, dealing with industry professionals in all aspects of the development cycle, including architects, mechanical & electrical, structural and civil engineers, contractors and developers, to ensure all details are considered throughout the build.
Working as project manager on projects from single dwellings through to large mixed-use developments with experience in low and high rise, deep basements and modular builds, Mike’s expertise extends to preparing planning technical documentation, discharging planning conditions, project design management, consultant appointments, construction management plans, project execution plans, and development and works programmes.
Mike strives to organise and plan a project so as to facilitate a smooth transition through the development cycle to client handover. He is an experienced leader, a good communicator with an ability to explain and deliver a completed building with clarity, enthusiasm and patience to even the most questioning of customers.
